Responsibilities

• Apply Fiber Optic communication, Instrumentation & Control expertise of Solar Field equipment to achieve the Plant operational goals and objectives as per Shams O&M policies, procedures and Maintenance. 
• Ensure that all I&C works are completed safely, cost effectively and on time.
• Safely implement assembly, repairs, replacements, preventive/predictive maintenance and adjustments for Plant Instruments & Control equipment and/or systems defined under the Plant maintenance plan. Coordinate work with requirements associated with production, availability, reliability and Shams O&M policies, procedures, standards, specifications and manufacturer’s recommendations.

Requirements

• Qualified I&C technician
• Control and instrumentation diploma will be an advantage
• Training courses in Fiber Optic networks and troubleshooting.
• UAE manual transmission driving license is required.

Experience 

• Experience in Fiber Optic networks, solar Field communication networks
• Knowledge in Ethernet networks both copper and Fiber optic, with hands on experiment in troubleshooting networking issues.
• Knowledge in programing and troubleshooting of Schneider Electric PLC such Smsol and Saitel will be an advantage.
• Basic knowledge in Modbus RTU protocol and communication.
• Knowledge in different network topology especially the ring and bus topology.
• Troubleshooting experience in vast outdoor fiber optic network area.
• Hands on experience in testing Fiber optic cables, replacing Fiber optic connectors, and splicing F.O cables.
• Hands on experience in using Fiber Optic testing equipment and measuring F.O signal strength.
• At least 5 year experience in I&C maintenance of large power generation or continuous process plants. 
• At least 5 years maintenance experience in fiber optic communication networks, preferably in solar fields. 
• Hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of major PLC’s and Control equipment. MV/LV switchgears, fire & gas and SCADA systems. 

Skills

• Highly motivated and self-driven, self-learner.
• Capable to work in a multinational team and willing to train/develop coworkers. 
• Capable of working under pressure 
• Good knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance principles and working procedures.
• Proficient with PC software’s and CMMS, able to write technical reports and procedures.
• Good oral and written English, Arabic is an advantage.
• Strong planning, organizing, and integration skills.
• Maintenance budget experience will be an advantage

About Company:

Shams Power Company is the special purpose vehicle established to realize Masdar's first concentrated solar thermal power plant in Abu Dhabi.  The joint venture between Masdar (51%), Abu Dhabi Retirement Pensions and Benefits Fund (29%) and Total (21%) was formed to develop, build, operate and maintain the plant which is located in Madinat Zayed, approximately 120 kilometers southwest of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 

The 100MW concentrated solar power (CSP) plant is one of the largest CSP plants in the world and the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa. It is the first utility-scale solar plant in the Middle East. 

Construction began in June 2010 while the plant was inaugurated March 2013. In that time Shams was the largest CSP operated project in the world, extended over an area of 2.5 km², consisting of 768 parabolic trough collectors.
