Responsibilities
- Ensuring that all safety procedures are in place and followed by workers
- Coordinating with engineers or other supervisors to set priorities for projects and ensuring that they are met
- Reviewing project proposals to determine feasibility, scope, cost estimates, and time lines
- Evaluating employee performance and providing feedback to help them improve their skills
- Monitoring the work of engineers to ensure that they are adhering to plans and specifications
- Monitoring employees’ attendance, on-the-job performance and productivity
- Recommending new technologies for use in projects based on cost, safety, efficiency, and other considerations

Requirements
A position as an engineering supervisor may require the following:
- Education: Most engineering supervisors have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology or a related field. Some employers prefer to hire candidates with a master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- Training & Experience: Engineering supervisors typically receive on-the-job training in their role. They may learn the specific processes and procedures of the company while working under the guidance of an experienced engineering supervisor.
- Certifications & Licenses: While certifications are not required to become an engineering supervisor, they can be valuable in your career since they can demonstrate your abilities and commitment to your employer.
